Quest to Test Boston's North End: Assagio

My Dad and I took the C&J bus down to South Station, and then visited Emmanuel (to drop off the fall semester check!!!). After leaving my future home (19 days and counting) we walked to the Prudential Center, Newbury Street, Copley Square (saw an awesome beat-boxer), and then took the T from Hynes to Haymarket where we then walked to the North End for an early dinner before taking the Amtrak train home.

We started walking down Hanover, and looked at a few menus, but didn't see anything we really wanted, so we then started walking down Prince Street. We found the place at 29 Prince Street.

Assagio, which means taste in Italian, had great food and great service, all at a great price. I have to say that the atmosphere was a little weird, there were cherubs and angel statues covering the restaurant, but that did not ruin the experience whatsoever. The ceiling was very cool, and the view from the open window to the street was nice.

Our waitress was amazing, very kind, always catering to our needs, but let us be and enjoy the great food.

So, what you've been waiting for, the food!

The food was great! I ordered the gnocchi, forcing myself to try it for the first time. Assagio did a great job preparing it, and my dad said it was great, but I realized I am just not a fan of the small dumplings made from potato. The sauce they were in was amazing though. For my dad, I talked him into getting Blackened Chicken Pomodoro, (blackened chicken with fresh tomato, garlic, olive oil, basil, white wine over ziti
) because if I wasn't getting gnocchi, that's what I would have gotten. He loved me for it! I tried it, and the chicken had a kick to it, but was nonetheless amazing. I'm glad I tried the gnocchi, but wish I could have gotten the Blackened Chicken!
